My Dear Jesuit Friends

A letter to my Jesuit friends, where I volunteered for a year, an unforgettable experience marked by excitement, challenges, and love.
My dear Jesuit friends

* * *

Long time pained

Not seen, not listened

Incomplete loss of speech

Complete loss of life

Who lived imprisoned

Can’t understand freedom

Forgive me for every weird word

Every single action needs to be explained

Maybe my words seem strange

Maybe my feelings seem even stranger

But love is as simple as being

It heals

And makes the estranged feel safe

I loved you more than anyone else

Long years of loneliness

It was as if my heartbeat had stopped

And with you, I could finally breathe

I used to be happy whenever you were happy

And I suffered whenever you were sad

Anything that could hurt you

Left a mark on me

As if my existence is an echo of yours

Months went by

Distance gives meaning to closeness

Separation

Makes us understand love

Life is beautiful

Oh, I really didn't know

Love is beautiful

My God, I have to act

Because I used to be afraid of joy

And run from it

But this time,

I decided to embrace it

Months went by

I hope we reunite

Promise me with love

Promise me we'll be together again

And I will wish you

The very best

Finished.
